Room 237

IFC

ROOM 237 is a subjective documentary that explores the theories and potentially hidden meanings surrounding Stanley Kubrick’s “The Shining”. In late 2012, the filmmakers reached out to Blind in hopes of crafting a trailer that captured the spirit of the film. The result is an intriguing homage to the original, blood soaked trailer released in 1980.

The Process

In lieu of a live action approach, creative director Greg Gunn describes the methodology behind making the trailer entirely in CG.

"In our early discussions with Rodney and Tim, we immediately thought to build a miniature set and shoot the VCR, controller and blood practically. After a lot of R&D and further talks, we decided to move forward with an all CG approach to really control the sense of dread and hyper realism we were aiming for."
